Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned Week

1 November - 10 November

Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned Week is back this November with some of the best bars across Australia serving up innovative, original, premium and daringly different Old Fashioned cocktails in celebration. It’s a chance for both new and discerning Old Fashioned connoisseurs to be treated to pure, old-fashioned fun and flavours at Woodford Reserve’s favourite bars in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth from 1 – 10 November.

Woodford Reserve award-winning American whiskey boasts a taste profile of more than 200 flavours, providing bartenders with the ideal base to create the perfect concoction to celebrate this classic cocktail. With so many flavours to play with, the task for bartenders is to imagine what a bourbon can be.

In Brisbane, award winning bartender Joseph Chisholm and his team at Boom Boom Room have created two Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned cocktails. “I’m nuts about you” and “Why oh Wine” the later, being made on the indulgent Woodford Double Oak paired with Nectarine Wine, Terracotta Honey & Cocoa Butter washed Sherry, served in as a bottled cocktail.

The Bowery, one of Brisbane’s longest serving and original cocktail bars is featuring not one but three Woodford Reserve Old Fashioneds with bartenders Tim Speechly and Brigid Holt going head to head on their creations as well as an original recipe taken from the Pendennis Club in Kentucky. For a sweet fix try Press Club’s version incorporating blueberry vanilla and chocolate made on Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select.

Discover what a bourbon can be at one of the participating bars.

About Woodford Reserve

One of the world’s finest bourbons. Beautifully complex, perfectly balanced, Woodford Reserve is created in Kentucky’s oldest operating distillery. This small batch whiskey exemplifies American artisanal tradition.

History of the Old Fashioned cocktail

The popular belief is that it was created at the Pendennis Club in Louisville, Kentucky in 1884, where it was developed by the bartender James E. Pepper who was a member of the club, and co-owners of the bourbon, Pepper.  Another historical viewpoint dates its inspiration to 1806; and its first recipe in print to 1895, in Modern American Drinks: How to Mix and Serve All Kinds of Cups, Cocktails, and Fancy Mixed Drinks, by George J Kappeler.
