The annual celebration of community and multiculturalism heralds the start of summer with a free program of music, live performances, entertainment and activities for all ages.
A star-studded outdoor concert begins at 5pm and will have the entire family rocking out when Play School favourite Jay Laga’aia and veteran performer Peter Combe take to the stage along with energetic children’s entertainers Stevie Nicholson and the SUPERDUDES.
Excerpts from the multiple award-winning production of The Owl and the Pussycat also feature, ahead of the full show’s SunPAC season in April 2020.
Rounding out the free concert program are Brisbane indie-pop singer-songwriter Noralyn and local funk, soul and R‘n’B quartet, Soul Cutz.
Summerfest kicks off at 10am with a music showcase by Harmonie Music and the fun continues across the afternoon when cultural groups and community organisations present a dazzling line-up of live performances in the SunPAC Theatre.
Outside there will be The Little Red Dumpling Festival, Food trucks, roving entertainers, pop-up activations and face-painting take place throughout the day until Summerfest culminates with a fireworks display at 7.30pm.
Summerfest is a free, all-inclusive community celebration that welcomes visitors from all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
Food is available to purchase, or visitors can bring their own and enjoy a picnic while being entertained.
