St Patrick’s Day @ South Bank
As luck would have it, you’re in for a treat this St Patrick’s Day. Brisbane’s premier dining precinct is gearing up for a spectacular celebration of family-friendly fun in honour of the Irish holiday.
On Sunday 17 March from 12 pm-4 pm, Little Stanley Street and surrounds will be bursting with St Patrick’s Day activities. A day for everyone and anyone, dress up in your best green attire and join in the fun with street performers, Irish-themed entertainment, activities and exclusive St Patrick’s Day dining offers.
South Bank Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer Bill Delves said this was the first time they have offered a St Patrick’s Day celebration at South Bank. “Australia is such a multicultural country and it’s fantastic that we are able to celebrate and bring events like St Patrick’s Day to South Bank. It’s a family-friendly day and we have a range of amazing restaurants involved with specials to add to the festive occasion. We’re continuing to host and encourage visitation from locals and tourists to the South Bank precinct with a diverse range of fun and safe events and activations,” he said.
The event, as part of the official program for the Brisbane Irish Festival (16-17 March) will see the Little Stanley Street precinct and South Bank surrounds lined with balloon artists, stilt walkers, Irish dancers, street art and more! Get your hair sprayed green and jig away the afternoon just like the Irish do, to the sounds of a traditional Irish fiddler.
Stop into one of South Bank’s many eateries and savour exclusive St Patty’s Day dining offers from some of the precinct’s best restaurants and bars, many of which will be getting into the Irish spirit and transforming into a sea of green for the day. Indulge in green smoothies, green beer, green burgers and Guinness pies. A true celebration of Irish merriment to be had by all!
Gavin Roche, Vice President of the St Patrick’s Day Parade Association said: “St. Patrick’s Day is a celebration of Irish culture and we’re thrilled to be partnering up with Eat South Bank to bring together a festive event for all ages. We love the idea of a street party and are excited to see all of the fun that the day will bring as we paint the town green for the 2019 Brisbane Irish Festival.”
The Collective Markets will also be turning green for the special day. Immerse yourself with Brisbane’s best artisans over an eclectic mix of stalls offering art, photography, unique gifts, fashion and live music from 10 am to 9 pm at Stanley Street Plaza.
