Bucci’s Sunday Series back for 2020

Customary Sunday lunching Italian style involves eating, drinking, sharing joyful banter and music and throughout 2020, Brisbane’s Bucci Restaurant and Bar will once again rollout its popular Sunday Series lunches celebrating nine Italian food regions.

Kicking off with Veneto for the first Sunday Series event on 23rd February, Bucci’s Sunday Series 2020 will then venture to Calabria (29th March), Abruzzo (26th April), Piedmont (31st May), Tuscany (28th June), Lazio (2nd August), Sardinia (30th August), Sicily (27th September) and Puglia (25th October).

In a very Italian celebration of food, wine, music and adventure, guests enjoy eight shared dishes from each region and a glass of prosecco for $59.

Throughout 2019, Bucci’s Sunday long lunches were frequented by local Brisbane celebrities and identities including Sofie Formica (media personality), Georgina Lewis (Network 10), Sharyn Ghidella (Channel 7), Samantha Heathwood (Channel 9), Kylie Lang (The Courier-Mail), Damien Anthony Rossi (The Sunday Mail), Bianca Dye (formerly 97.3FM), Kimberley Busteed (NOVA) and Those Two Girls – Lise Carlaw and Sarah Wills (HIT 105FM) to name a few.

Bucci Restaurant and Bar’s Event Manager Sabrina Judge says Sunday lunching Italian style is about enjoying a long and filling lunch in a joyful atmosphere which is what Bucci does best.

“Our Sunday Series lunches have become incredibly popular with most booked out throughout 2019. Some guests even attended as many as four or five of the events because it’s simply a great way to spend a Sunday – the Italian way with the very best food, wine and fun,” Ms Judge said.

“Our Sunday Series lunches are a superb opportunity to experience different culinary regions of Italy in a festive atmosphere with each lunch typically featuring a guest speaker or demonstration from the region along with our favourite Italian music because who doesn’t love a sing-a-long or dance to the Dean Martin classic, “That’s Amore”,” she said.

“This year, our Sunday Series will take us to some new regions not previously offered through these events including Abruzzo and Lazio along with regional favourites such as Tuscany, Sardinia, Sicily and Puglia – just like taking an extensive vacation throughout Italy.”

Veneto Sunday Series lunch: 12 noon, Sunday, 23rd February

Featuring dishes or ingredients including polenta, risi e bisi (rice and peas), fritto misto, baccala and other seafood dishes.

Calabria Sunday Series lunch: 12 noon, Sunday, 29th March

Featuring dishes or ingredients including citrus and vegetables (especially eggplant), sausage, Nduja and chilli.

Abruzzo Sunday Series lunch: 12 noon, Sunday, 26th April

Featuring dishes or ingredients including saffron, maccheroni all chitarra, porchetta abruzze and waffle cookies.

Piedmont Sunday Series lunch: 12 noon, Sunday, 31st May

Featuring dishes or ingredients including cacciatora, slow-roasted beef cheek, truffles, zabaglione and hazelnuts – Nutella!

Tuscany Sunday Series lunch: 12 noon, Sunday, 28th June

Featuring dishes or ingredients including olive oil, bruschetta, fish stew, Bistecca alla Fiorentina (huge T-bone!).

Lazio Sunday Series lunch: 12 noon, Sunday, 2nd August

Featuring dishes or ingredients including saltimbocca, pasta alla gricia, panpepato, and maritozzi.

Sardinia Sunday Series lunch: 12 noon, Sunday, 30th August

Featuring dishes or ingredients including pecorino, fregola, sardines and malloreddus.

Sicily Sunday Series lunch: 12 noon, Sunday, 27th September

Featuring dishes or ingredients including tuna, swordfish, bream, snapper, meatballs, cannoli and sfingi donuts.

Puglia Sunday Series lunch: 12 noon, Sunday, 25th October

Featuring dishes or ingredients including burrata, orecchiette pasta, salsciccia and pasticciotto.
