Despite suicide awareness levels increasing current statistics show that suicide remains the leading cause of death for Australians aged between 15 and 44 and shows close to nine people take their own lives each day (Australian Bureau of Statistics).

For every death by suicide, it is estimated that as many as 30 people attempt to end their lives, this is approximately 65,300 suicide attempts each year.

A local Cannon Hill Charity, the Sunlight Centre had vision to not only raise the awareness around mental health and suicide but to take direct action through offering free face to face counselling to Teens and Adults who are suicidal and/or going through self-harm.

Clients can self-refer and do not require a mental health plan and each client can access up to 15 weeks of free counselling with one of the accredited counsellors.

“Being an independent charity we rely on our fundraising efforts and donations to cover the costs of the centre.” Ken Loftus Clinical Director stated. “In order to keep our doors open we are constantly looking toward new fundraiser events.”

ANON 2019 is set to be one of Queensland’s largest charity group art exhibition of 2019. ANON is an art exhibition with a difference! The main section houses unique A5 pieces, at just $50 each and the buyer will not know the artist until after purchase! Artists range from the professional to the celebrity! ANON 2019 will also have donated pieces of various other sizes donated by well-known artists from around Australia and beyond!
