Deadpool and Wolverine are back to combine forces and defend their homeland.
Something is missing in the superheroes’ life when they are settled into their mundane civilian life. When threatened and challenged, Deadpool dons the suit of his alter-ego and goes in search of Wolverine.
When the humour hits the right mark, the film excels. Deadpool does what he does best.
But every so often, there’s a lull or overly weird moment that could have been cut out or shortened.
There’s a small joke about Mad Max. And then in roll some B-grade Mad Max-looking vehicles and thugs to a horseshoe stadium. Have they just repurposed the set to save money?
Cassandra Nova (Emma Corin) is a surprisingly suitable baddie but the brain massaging goes on too long.
If you’re a long-time fan of the series, then you’ll enjoy the cameos (minus Channing Tatum’s character). This is being sold as a standalone film, but I encourage you to revisit the other films. There’s plenty of Easter Eggs.
What is going on with that funny-looking dog? I don’t know, but it’s hilarious.
The film could have ended earlier, but there’s a fight with a weird Deadpool mutant gang that comes out of left field.
The soundtrack is enjoyable – Madonna fans will be in bliss.
Deadpool and Wolverine is an entertaining film featuring two leading stars with brilliant chemistry and trademark humour.
