Riding high off the success of their #1 iTunes smash “Good Lord”, Perth alternative outfit Birds of Tokyo are taking their unique brand of emotional rock on the road with their national “Good Lord Tour”.
Having sold out across major cities, the Brisbane show on 18th September has been upscaled to the newly minted Fortitude Music Hall due to popular demand. Tickets are on sale now.
The good news for the boys doesn’t end there though with “Good Lord”, the haunting ballad born from the implosion of lead singer Ian Kenny’s disillusioned marriage, earning Platinum-selling status on the official ARIA charts where it peaked within the Top 20 and topped the Australian Artists chart.
With over a decade of music to their name, this latest tour promises to be their most diverse yet. After earning a place on Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown a staggering 11 times, and earning 16 APRA Award nominations, the rising success of ‘Good Lord’, as well as their latest release ‘The Greatest Mistake’ – which is currently placing within the Top 20 on iTunes – signals the significant change streaming has to the music landscape as the group experience a resurgence in their airplay.
Before they take to the stages across the country though, Birds of Tokyo will perform live on air Friday morning, August 23rd on Brisbane’s number one breakfast radio show, Nova 106.9’s Ash, Kip, Luttsy and Susie O’Neill from 6-9am.
