The audition is a tense film about a music teacher and her complicated relationships with her family and students.
Anna Bronsky (Nina Hoss) is a tiger mum, who becomes disappointed when her son gives up the violin and becomes more interested in nature and ice hockey.
She takes on a new violin student, Alexander (Ilja Monti) whom she believes has talent. Bored and frustrated with her life, she beings an affair with a colleague. He persuades her to join a quartet.
The film is the perfect length but the ending may be a little callous for some.
