A Mother’s Love by Danielle Steel – Recently widowed, Halley Holbrook has spent decades building a career as a bestselling novelist. As a child, she was physically and mentally abused, something she only ever revealed to her beloved husband. Since then, she has tried to bury the memories of those traumatic times.

Halley is now in her fifties and the mother of twin daughters who, while still extremely close to her, are eager to lead their own lives.

Finding herself alone at Christmas and New Year for the first time in years, Halley makes up her mind to go to Paris, where she has arranged to rent a beautiful house for the holiday. On the flight over there, she meets Bart Warner, a successful businessman. As they are both travelling alone, they agree to spend time together during her stay.

Soon after her arrival in Paris, Halley has her extremely valuable, vintage Birkin handbag stolen! The theft leaves her feeling shaken and vulnerable, and triggers dreadful memories of her childhood. Bart’s care and concern for her welfare helps her to overcome her feelings of powerlessness and despair. She is determined to do everything she can to help the police find the perpetrator – who, it seems, is part of an international syndicate and a wanted man.

Halley’s determination helps her prove to herself that she CAN face the past and no longer be dominated by threats and abuse. She IS deserving of love and capable of coping with whatever comes her way!

Despite her childhood abuse, it has left her much stronger than she had ever realised!

This is another inspirational novel from this popular and well-loved author. It will resonate with those readers, who have experienced abuse in their lives, and bring understanding to those who have been spared.

A heart-rending read for 2025.
