Mantra on Salt Beach, located at picturesque Kingscliff is undoubtedly one of our most visited holiday destinations. Just an hour and a half drive from Brisbane, Mantra on Salt Beach is a fully equipped resort with easy access to the beach and complete with a shopping Village.
On arrival, we simply park the car and once there, we rarely drive out of the resort, as we simply don’t need to.
Our kids love visiting Kingscliff, it is one of their favourite places and a staycation here always puts a big smile on their little faces. Here are some of the things we love about staying at Mantra on Salt Beach:
1. The lagoon pool
We would barely be putting our bags down and the kids are already zooming to jump into the pool! Mantra on Salt Beach has 3 pools. The lagoon pool, the children’s wading pool and a heated rock pool.
2. Salt beach.
Salt Beach is just stunning and we love that it is not full of visitors. With kilometres of white sand and a sleepy breeze from the waves, this beach makes us feel like we are on our own private beach. There is direct access from the resort so it is perfect for a morning or afternoon stroll.
3. Eats and treats at Salt Village.
Located within the resort, Salt Village is a strip beaming with some of Kingscliff’s best restaurants. Here you will find Bombay Cricketers Club, Fins and the French Patisserie. Some of the restaurants have fabulous kids’ menus.
Alternatively, there is the Salt Village Fish and Chips, serving some of the best fish and chips, that you can take back to your apartment. If the kids have been good and eaten all their food, a scoop of gelato from is always a treat.
4. Have a night out sans kids.
Mantra on Salt Beach can happily assist guests with child minding. We once hired a babysitter who arrived equipped with a trunk full of magic tricks, games and books! The kids loved her and we enjoyed a night out with friends.
5. Play a game of tennis.
Mantra on Salt Beach has 2 tennis courts, perfect for a challenge with the kids and also for burning energy… especially after all the gelato!
6. The Spa on Salt.
This one is not so kids friendly but… happy parents, happy kids!
Find your mantra through relaxation at the Spa on Salt. Whether it is a facial or a massage, an hour here is all I need. All spa visitors get to use the Spa’s mineral bath and relaxation area for as long as they like. It is a great place to unwind without the kids and sip on delicious Aveda tea.
Insider tip: the showers here are fully equipped with delicious smelling Aveda hair and body washes. Bliss.
7. Theme Parks
If you must leave the resort, the big theme parks are not too far from the Mantra on Salt Beach and there are transfers available from the resort so you can make a full, fun day of it.
Tropical Fruit World is another attraction that might just encourage the kids to eat more fruit. Entry to the market and cafe is free and farm tours are extra. It is amazing to see all the different fruit that is being grown in this family farm.
8. Go for a ride.
Hire a bike from the resort and ride along the 2.4 km coastal bike paths. From here you can do a quick stop at the beach or have a look at some of the nice homes along the way. There are 4-seater bikes available too for a more cruisey ride.
9. Salt Bar supervision
Grab a drink at Salt Bar while the kids play at the indoor playground. Honestly, our kids can play here for hours!
10. Stay in and watch a movie.
Mantra on Salt Beach has 4 movie channels and one of them happens to be a kid’s movie channel! Choose a session, grab some snacks and enjoy some quiet time together!
What to pack: Kingscliff weather can be quite unpredictable during certain months, so make sure you pack enough clothes for your trip. Although it rained in May during our recent visit, the next day was bright blue skies!
If you do forget to pack something, don’t fret – the IGA at Salt Village is pretty well stocked.
With an internal laundry and full kitchen, the apartments at Mantra on Salt Beach are really like a home away from home.
