This on-trend charcoal body scrub reminds me of spring with the lavender and citrus essential oils. It’s an easy quick recipe which would make a lovely handmade gift for someone.
The scrub is based on activated bamboo charcoal and bentonite clay which help to absorb toxins. They are combined with the sugar which gives it some grit to gently exfoliate your skin. The olive oil will leave your skin feeling silky smooth.
Spring Scented Charcoal Body Scrub Recipe
½ cup organic raw sugar
4 tablespoons of olive oil or coconut oil
½ tablespoon activated charcoal
½ tablespoon bentonite clay
4 drops lavender essential oil
4 drops lemon essential oil
4 drops mandarin essential oil
4 drops orange essential oil
Instructions
- Use a glass bowl and wooden spoon to combine the sugar, olive oil or coconut oil, activated charcoal and bentonite clay. (Avoid using metal with clay). You may need to gently heat the coconut oil if it is solid.
- Add the essential oils and mix until well combined.
- Place into a 240ml glass jar and seal.
You can use this gorgeous charcoal body scrub in the shower or bath a couple of times a week. Just massage the scrub onto your body (avoiding the face) then wash off. It smells so divine with the floral essential oils.
Tip: Charcoal is a tad messy – so just wipe off the black marks before you hop out.
This body scrub is ideal for all skin types. You can leave out the essential oils or change them to your favourite blends. Get creative.
The charcoal scrub would make a lovely with a gift card and a piece of pretty floral material tied with ribbon. Don’t tell anyone, but I’m hoping to make a few of these for Christmas presents – perhaps with peppermint and gingerbread inspired essential oils.
