Period Repair Manual has a tagline fo ‘every woman’s guide to better periods’ by Lara Briden.
The book was initially a self-published ebook based on Lara’s naturopathic clinic experience. Her philosophy is based on two simple princliples:
- Period problems respond incredibly well to nutrition and other natural treatments
- Hormonal birth control is not the only option
The first half of the book is dedicated to understanding your period, why birth control pills aren’t the definitive answer and alternative methods of birth control.
The second half of the book covers treatments, including the physical signs of ovulation, progesterone, estrogen metabolism, detoxification, and insulin resistance. The book covers solutions to explore for common period issues like Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis.
Lara explains the risks and side effects of the hormonal birth control pill. She explains ways of how to talk to your doctor.
The book is easy to read with special boxes for tips, definitions, patient stories and special topics. It is comprehensive and extensively researched.
Period Repair Manual is a handy reference for any female with pain or problems at that time of the month.
Period Repair Manual is currently available as paperback.
