23 March - 25 March

varies

The Transitions Film Festival returns to Brisbane this March with another enthralling line-up of world-changing films. Returning for the seventh time in Melbourne, and the second time in Brisbane, the Festival showcases local and international documentaries aimed at empowering audiences to build a better world.

The films in this year’s Brisbane program cover a diverse range of themes including:

  • the future of food,
  • ocean health,
  • evolutionary psychology and
  • the rise of ‘consciousness hacking’ in the age of artificial intelligence.

The tour opens with Food Fighter – the latest film from Mint Pictures. This film follows the powerhouse founder and CEO of OzHarvest, Ronni Kahn on her epic crusade to end food waste in Australia.

Then closes with SuperSapiens, a fascinating documentary featuring Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, Nick Bostrom and Ben Goertzel. This film is about the moral and ethical implications of merging man with machine.

Other highlights include:

  • the Queensland premiere of Albatross, the debut feature from internationally acclaimed artist Chris Jordan
  • What Lies Upstream, a powerful investigative documentary about water protection, and
  • Living in the Future’s Past, a poetic documentary produced and narrated by academy-award winner Jeff Bridges, which explores our place in the world.

The Transitions Film Festival runs from the 23rd until the 25th of March at Brisbane’s New Farm Cinema
