After seeing his girlfriend killed on a beach while on holidays, Mitch Rapp has a single mission for seeking revenge. Mitch (Dylan O’Brien) is taken under the wing of Stan Hurley (Michael Keaton) as a special team member under the CIA headed up by Irene Kennedy (Sanaa Lathan). The black ops team train together and then they are sent out to investigate a wave of attacks on military and civilian targets.
The action moves from the Middle East to Europe in an effort to stop the mysterious operative (Taylor Kitsch) with his agent (Shiva Negar). There’s plenty of action and attractive talent but the storyline is ultimately a tad predictable. The last part of the film is rather dark (and violent) and involves nuclear weapons.
The movie is based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Vince Flynn. This is part of a series of currently more than ten novels, so perhaps we will see a sequel or two.
American Assassin is an average war thriller about Americans saving the day, yet again. #AmericanAssassin
