4Seasons brings together some of the most talented dancers in the Asia Pacific Region. Comprising three dance works, the mood carries the audience from sombre beginnings to an energetic uplifting finish.
The first work Summer shows the Hong Kong’s City Contemporary Dance Company’s physical control as they move in tandem slow motion, up, over and through each other. The only prop being a huge golden parachute silk curtain that billows and thrusts from above, impacting the movements of the dancers below. Watching it, is mesmerising.
The second piece brings the Expressions Dance Company’s energy into focus. The choreography is emotion filled. Not to hone in on any one dancer, the final sequence brings in elements of hip-hop that is both frenetic and impressive.
Following intermission, a remix of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons accompanies the combined dancers and the singular pair performances focus on the journey of human relationships – from the spring of the first romance to the winter of the breakup. Colour coordination in the costuming of the group is a further visual highlight.
4Seasons premiered last night at the Playhouse, QPAC and will play through until Friday 22 June 2018. For ticket prices and showing times please visit
